GCSE Results Day Is Coming Up, Don’t Panic, Whatever Happens
Firstly, I am not an expert in this field; even preparing myself for results day is hell. I hate it, the stress of knowing if I have done well to then find out I failed Maths once again, this is why I do travel blogs instead of becoming a Professor of Maths 🤣… Well, anyway.
GCSE Results Day can be a pretty stressful time. You might have opened your results and realised you didn’t get the grades you were hoping for, but please don’t panic. One set of results does not decide your future, and there are still plenty of options and support available to you.

Speaking from personal experience, I did alright first time round, but I sadly did not pass Maths the first time around, or even the second time. It was frustrating, but it shows that firstly Maths is not my strong point. But also it further taught me that not getting the result you wanted straight away doesn’t mean you can’t get there eventually. I find out on GCSE Results day if I passed Maths.

You can resit your exams
If you did not get the pass you needed in English or Maths, if you decide to go to college, many offer opportunities where you resit these qualifications alongside your other studies. Some Colleges also depending on your Grade in the Summer exam may submit you in the November Resit or the Summer Resit. It might not have been the plan you originally imagined, but it does give you that chance to then achieve the grade you deserve.
There are different routes forward

You may also find that your college offers you a Level 2 course instead of a Level 3 based on your results. While that might feel disappointing in the beginning, after a while you might feel it also being a useful stepping stone. Completing a Level 2 qualification can help you progress towards Level 3 later on. But, also that Level 2 is a further qualification that can go on your CV too!
Your results might change your route, but they should never make you stop from reaching your potential.
Your grades don’t define you
Most importantly, please don’t stress yourself out over a few letters and numbers on a piece of paper. Your GCSE grades will never measure your personality, your potential, your kindness, your creativity, or the kind of person you’re going to become.
You might not have had the results you wanted this summer and that’s okay. Just take a deep breath, speak to your college about next steps, and hopefully everything will go well.
GCSEs are just a small chapter of your story, they are never the whole story.
