If I Had the Control of What Goes In Llanelli. Here Is What I Would Put.
As we are aware, Llanelli is in a crisis of shops. Either some are open or the rest are cashies or charity shops. It is sad on how shit the town is. But! Have no fear, the Welshie has some ideas on what to put in Llanelli Town Centre.
My Ideas.
My ideas may seem wild but I do think, it could maybe be done in the future if work is actively done in the town.
With keeping some local businesses in town, my aim if I had a choice is to bring some big names into Llanelli so it brings people from West Wales into Llanelli instead of making them travel to Swansea and Cardiff.
Firstly, I would approach BT in adding Street Hubs in Llanelli since it can provide better WiFi signal to those in town and provides advertisement which a percentage would then go to the council.
Llanelli Town Mockups
I have made some mockups and added shops which I believe could do well in making Llanelli a better town centre for those travelling from far.
The shops that are included in this are
- Locally ran Coffee Shop (Food & Drink)
- Post Office Banking Hub (Banking)
- Marks & Spencer (Scaled Down) [Clothing/Groceries]
- Tesco Express (Groceries)
I believe utilising these units could contribute to increased footfall, particularly given their presence in other towns and cities where they have demonstrated, or previously demonstrated, success.
The next selection of shops are prominant im Swansea and Cardiff and since I want Llanelli’s aim to be to deter people from Swansea + Cardiff this is my ideal idea of shops.

- John Lewis + Partners (Clothing/Tech/Home Store)
- Damaged Society (Alternative Fashion/Clothing Store)
- Lego (Toy Store)
- Apple (Premium Tech Store)
These stores yet again have proven popular in other towns and cities like Cardiff and could prove popular in Llanelli.
Finally, the last couple shops are great for younger people and all ages. So these are good stores for that reason.

- Primark (Clothing Shop)
- Miniso (Japanese/Gift Shop)
Overall, these shops would be a strong addition to the area as they are well-known, popular brands that could attract visitors from both the local community and surrounding towns.
The presence of these stores could help increase footfall, encourage longer visits and complement the existing businesses. Many of these retailers have successfully operated in other towns and cities, demonstrating their potential to bring additional customers and contribute positively to the local shopping environment.
